Job Vacancy Announcement Firefighter (Full-Time) – City of Yazoo City, Yazoo City, Mississippi 39194
Closing Date: Open until filled.
Duties: Responsible for performing any duties assigned him during any type of alarm by his Shift Commander, Company Officer, or Chief Officer. Have working knowledge of all minor equipment of the department. Required to learn the location of all streets and plugs in the city and the immediate vicinity outside the city. Able to perform all duties assigned in regard to station routine and maintenance including painting, plumbing and repair, cutting, flushing, painting, testing and general maintenance of fire hydrants, and other activities at the direction of his superiors.
Responsible for the maintenance of his personal firefighting clothing and equipment to insure cleanliness and good working condition. Must take an active interest in all types of training – inside and outside. Basic computer knowledge and use of email is required.
Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED notarized by issuing institution or school board is required.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a resident of Yazoo County within one year of employment. Background Checks: A criminal background check will be conducted. A department of motor vehicles background check will be conducted to verify the City of Yazoo City's insurance carrier can insure applicant.

Following an offer of employment and prior to starting work, individuals must have a preemployment drug test by a physician designated by the City of Yazoo City. Candidate must pass a physical, stress test, and a fire department issued CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test). The examination will be paid for by the city.
